27 Celebrities who have faced horrifying stalkers over the years

Celebrities have to learn to deal with an array of undesirable behaviors and events from those around them. There's little privacy, rowdy fans, and -- worst of all -- serious stalkers who endanger their safety. Sadly, more celebrities than you might think have dealt with scary stalking incidents over the years.

Erin Andrews

Back in 2008, journalist Erin Andrews was stalked and videotaped inside of her hotel room by former insurance company executive Michael David Barrett, The Atlanta Journal reported. After TMZ refused to pay for Barrett's videotapes, which included Andrews totally nude, Barrett shared the footage online.

Looking back at the time, Andrews said the moment still haunts her. "My dad says he thought I had been in a car accident because I was just screaming," Andrews told Hoda Kotb in her Making Space podcast. "I feel terrible. My parents were amazing. "I was in my 30s when it happened and I started acting like a teenager because my parents were really the ones who wanted to avoid dealing with me.

Today reports that Barrett served two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to interstate stalking. He was released in 2012. Andrews was also awarded a payout of $55 million in a lawsuit against Barrett and the companies that managed the Nashville Marriott hotel where the videos were filmed.
